The network aims to facilitate closer integration of existing partnerships between researchers from different disciplines (genetics, agronomy, environmental and social sciences) and help develop new links to broaden the socio-economic context of SI.

SIRN will encourage collaboration and stimulate new research proposals for innovative systems-orientated approaches relevant to SI.

Key Objectives for the project:

  1. Identify strengths and gaps in UK SI research and add value by developing new ways of working
  2. Develop innovative cross disciplinary methods to address knowledge gaps and enable the research community to tackle emerging challenges, e.g. big data, novel technologies and new science areas.
  3. Support the application of basic research to new SI areas and improve interdisciplinary exchanges and understanding.
  4. To achieve better integration of UK research communities associated with SI.
